FT. WORTH, TX (June 9, 2006) – Galderma Laboratories today announced the launch of a new Web site www.clobex.com containing detailed information about its CLOBEX® (clobetasol propionate) line for the treatment of moderate-to-severe psoriasis, and other SRDs. CLOBEX® is the only available super-high potency corticosteroid formulation that provides the clinically proven strength of Class 1 clobetasol in a non-aerosol Spray, convenient Shampoo and patient-pleasing Lotion formulation.
"Galderma is pleased to offer patients and physicians a new expanded resource for discovering the distinct therapeutic benefits of Clobex Spray, Lotion and Shampoo, which helps solve problems for psoriasis, SRDs and scalp psoriasis patients, respectively," said Alexandre Fevre, Product Manager, CLOBEX®. "The Web site will be routinely updated with new information about the product's ongoing clinical, promotional and third-party activities."
The visually-dynamic Web site is divided into two distinct sections for patients and healthcare professionals. Patients can pinpoint information about CLOBEX® Spray, Lotion and Shampoo by simply rolling their mouse over the appropriate bottle. They will also have a direct link to the National Psoriasis Foundation Web site to learn more about the disease and available patient resources. In addition, product rebates will be available on the Web site for consumers.
Healthcare providers can access in-depth information about CLOBEX®'s clinical profile and its three unique delivery systems.
Clobetasol propionate has been shown to suppress the HPA axis at the lowest doses tested. About Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease that comes in different forms and varying levels of severity. More than 4.5 million adults in the U.S. have psoriasis. Psoriasis generally appears as patches of raised red skin covered by a flaky, white buildup, and is typically accompanied by intense itching and burning. Certain types of psoriasis can also produce a pustular appearance. In 2004, psoriasis accounted for an alarming 1.7 million patient visits and these numbers are expected to grow.
About Steroid-Responsive Dermatoses (SRD)
Steroid-Responsive Dermatoses, or SRD, is a term that refers to skin conditions that respond to treatment with topical corticosteroids. These conditions are a diverse group — as tough to treat as plaque psoriasis, through eczema, atopic and contact dermatitis, and as easy to treat as pityriasis rosea. They are all characterized by symptoms that respond to the anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictive, antimitotic, and immunosuppressive effects of topical corticosteroids.
